Mirror websites

What is a mirror website?

A mirror website is an identical copy of a website. Mirror websites serve three purposes:

Speed - By placing mirror websites in different countries, visitors can have faster access through a mirror nearer to them
Redundancy - When one of the mirror websites is down, visitors can still use the other mirror websites
Load balancing - Popuplar websites with many visitors use a lot of server 'load', by offering multiple websites this load can be distributed over multiple servers
